The Women's Fund at East Texas Communities Foundation

Mission of the organization
Mission of the organization The Women's Fund at East Texas Communities Foundation leverages the philanthropic capacity of women as a catalyst for positive change. There are many women in East Texas who care deeply about our communities and want to make them better. They have something to contribute, and by pooling contributions, they have the power to make high-impact gifts that can affect significant positive change. Members of the Women's Fund make annual contributions to crate a pool of charitable capital. Each year 85 percent of the membership dues is used as "now" money for major projects; 15 percent is deposited into an endowment account to benefit future generations. Local nonprofits are contacted annually and asked to submit grant applications to be considered by the Women's Fund. Every member has a voice and a vote in recommending how their funds will be spent. In 2008, the Women's Fund awarded grants to three organizations totaling almost $100,000. On Oct. 20, 2009, the recipients of the 2009 grants will be announced at the annual membership luncheon to be held at the Tyler Rose Garden Center. Information on the luncheon and membership can be obtained by contacting the Women's Fund.
