Mission of the organization
Camp Tyler provides children with premier outdoor learning opportunities and has a commitment to practicing and teaching conservation of natural resources as well as good land stewardship. Camp Tyler was the first camp in America built with donations from the community. Camp Tyler is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization created by the citizens of Tyler in 1945. It’s one of the oldest outdoor learning centers in the country. Half a million children have visited Camp Tyler. Amenities include 300 +acres of farm and forest with 7 miles of developed trails for hiking, biking and walking. There are also several stocked fishing ponds, a protected swim area on Lake Tyler, canoeing, a working farm, amphitheater, cabins, Bradford lodge and a prairie restoration area with an elevated observation dock. The facilities are available for retreats, weddings, family reunions, church gatherings or other special events. Camp Tyler is offering individuals, families and organizations in the East Texas area the opportunity to join and become Friends of Camp Tyler. Families can join for $300 per year and individuals can join for $165 per year and enjoy monthly events and benefits.
